They walked down the hill, and straight down the street where houses stood neatly in two rows, all facing each other. They looked ominous to Goldfish and Headmistress. It was dark and they could not see except the faint light from the moon and the stars. Shadows of the buildings loomed over them, caving in, as if darkness has swallowed them. Crickets were playing their one toned tune, keeping them company from silence.
"What are these?" Goldfish asked Headmistress, she has not seen such peculiar yet seemingly dangerous structure. "They are houses..." Headmistress replied," .. empty houses..."she added as she looked around, finding the unoccupied space and silence uneasy. "You mean you live in these houses?? It's so... lifeless.." Goldfish exclaimed. How could a human live in this place? It has no light, no people, no... life. She shuddered at the thought of how they lived, 'Are other people this lifeless too?' She thought, taking a glance at Headmistress, whose face was covered by the shadows, but it was bright enough to make out where she was.
"Come on, let's walk quickly, I don't have a good feeling about this.." Headmistress called to Goldfish, who was way behind her. Goldfish quickened her pace, she couldn't see much and nearly fell, but Headmistress caught her hand first, their footsteps shuffled above the gravel. They could almost see a light, a very bright light at the end as they walk halfway through the street.
*CREEEAAAK*
"What was that??!" Goldfish cried, her head whipping around.
*CLANG*
the sound made them jump, Goldfish yelped out in surprise. They saw something moving in amidst of the darkness. "Who's there?" Headmistress called out, her voice loud and clear, but no one knew, inside she was shaking. The dark figure froze, and broke into a run, but did not succeed as it tripped and feel face first on the ground, right in front of them. Headmistress stepped in front of Goldfish and squinted as hard as she could to make out who or what it was.
Under the glowing moon, what lay in front of them was nothing but a cup noodle which groaned in pain as it turned around. Goldfish saw the giant lettering-- TOM YAM MEE-- emblazoned on the cup, and a giant flap around an opening as big as saucers that opened and closed. 'That must be the mouth' thought Goldfish as more groaning sounds came out from it.
"Ow..." was it's first words, later it paused and struggled to get up and run upon seeing new strangers staring back. Flapping her small arms and tried to cover its seemingly wide face," UGH! Stop looking at mee!! " it exclaimed. It tried to stand but toppled back down, as it's tiny legs could not support it's round cup-shaped body. It muttered something and looked at the strangers. As it looked, it made out two figures, one girl... and a seemingly odd looking creature with a fishbowl on it's head. "WHAT are you??? You look SOO silly in that bowl, how UN-stylish" the cup noodle said, offending Goldfish.
