The first chapter

As the big fluff of white clouds the shade of white cotton candy passed slowly, someone was watching it's movements. Though she was a goldfish out of water, she was just like everyone in the world-Microscopic-if seen through from space. Goldfish adjusted her headgear filled with water which was the reason that she is still alive in this dry, dry world.

She walked on the pavements, passing everything. Feeling the dryness of the hard asphalt. Thinking wistfully of home, she knew she couldn't turn back now. It was too far away. As she walked, she observed every motion, every beat, smell, touch.. Everything. She knew she could never experience this back home, where water helped her glide around ,where the bowl of water was her only freedom, it confined her, where she could only press her face on the glass and watch the day go by slowly the same way everyday.

She passed the 7-eleven store which supplied all the things human beings wanted--food,beverage,magazines,lottery tickets.. all things colourful stacked neatly in their respective shelves. She suddenly had a craving for Skittles, and held out her fin to take it. But without fingers, the pack of Skittles slipped and fell to the ground. Making a 'THUD' sound. Cursing about God's unfairness that granted her into the world as a mere goldfish, she bent down to pick it up.
Unaware of an additional presence. Someone picked it up for her,she saw human hands. She looked up to see a girl with specs that reflected her wisdom and knowledge, with her hand holding out the packet of Skittles to her. "You dropped this." The girl said, smiling shyly.
Goldfish took it and smiled gratefully back at her. "My name's Headmistress." the girl said, looking at goldfish as she pushed her specs back up. Though Goldfish found that name peculiar, she introduced herself. "What are you doing here?" Headmistress asked, she couldn't suppress her curiosity, for it wasn't everyday you'd see a goldfish out of water.

"Buying Skittles" Goldfish replied, laughing at her silly question as she paid the man."I meant why are you out here in the world?? Aren't you supposed to be in a bowl of water?" Headmistress asked as she followed Goldfish out of the store and under the Sun's beam. She watched in awe as the rays shone on Goldfish's body, making her shimmering with glitter, as if she was a jewel on the street. Goldfish pondered on her newfound friend's question, and replied "To find myself". With that, she smiled at her friend. "But, you're right in front of me!" Headmistress exclaimed, pointing at her. Amused, Goldfish chuckled at that thought, she could only think Headmistress was very different from the human beings she had met before.

Goldfish then averted her gaze to Headmistress's Converse, black with white laces, with a red star at the heels. Then she looked at her own tail, wide and flappy, which will never fit in any shoes. Goldfish could only marvel at the thought of wearing shoes. She was silent about that thought.

"You know, I wish I had a tail sometimes, so I can swim to anywhere I wanted." Headmistress caught Goldfish staring at her sneakers. Goldfish just looked at her. " I think I'd like to join your trip in finding yourself.." Headmistress suddenly said, looking hopefully at Goldfish. Her ponytail bouncing to a muted rhythm. And she grinned at Goldfish.

A moment passed. Goldfish didn't say anything, she just ripped the cellophane packet and poured Skittles onto her fin, extending it towards Headmistress. Headmistress took the green one covered with white specks, just like all the other colourful Skittles. She popped it into her mouth, the white specks dissolved and a wave of sour spread throughout her tongue, then sweet. Goldfish watched as Headistress puckered and her lips quivered. Goldfish then giggled at the sight of it and ran up a hill, yelling back at Headmistress"COME ON!" Headmistress chased after her and together, they embark on an amazing, quirky, stupendous journey of finding themselves.
